Miscarriage Symptoms

A miscarriage may be defined as the loss of the embryo before twenty weeks of pregnancy. Miscarriages happen quite often with about 15% of known cases of pregnancy resulting in a miscarriage. Miscarriage symptoms give a clear and early indication of what is likely to follow. In most cases the cause for miscarriage is never found out. The reason why miscarriages happen is unknown in most of the cases. However, there are signs and symptoms of miscarriages that everybody should know.

One common symptom is light or heavy vaginal bleeding that may be constant or irregular. Bleeding is also a possibility during normal pregnancy like the first-trimester bleeding. There is more likelihood of miscarriage if the bleeding during pregnancy is accompanied with pain. Pelvic cramps, abdominal pain, or a persistent, dull ache in your lower back are all miscarriage symptoms. All these symptoms causing pain may start a few hours to several days after bleeding has begun. Another symptom is the passing of blood clots or grayish (fetal) tissue from the vagina. In some cases you wouldn't even know that a miscarriage has happened. It is only when you go to see the doctor that he or she finds out about the miscarriage.

There are different types of miscarriages that include threatened miscarriage, inevitable miscarriage, missed miscarriage, incomplete miscarriage and complete miscarriage. In threatened miscarriages the woman experiences vaginal bleeding during the first three months. It is in the first weeks of pregnancy that the likelihood of a miscarriage is more likely. In most cases, approximately about 80% of the miscarriages will happen during the first trimester. Though the reasons for miscarriage may not be known in most cases the embryo just stops developing. It is generally believed that some embryos may have missing or damaged chromosomes resulting in miscarriages.

The maximum risks of a miscarriage happen during the first few weeks of pregnancy. It is never easy when a miscarriage happens as it is a process that develops as a chain of events that occur over a course of several days and ultimately results in a miscarriage. The physical experience of one woman who had a miscarriage may be entirely different from another woman's experience. Usually after a miscarriage a woman feels depressed due to the loss of an expected child. It is usually safe for such a person to conceive six to eight weeks later, on the advice on her physician.
